Fair skin and dark hair are easiest to treat, and normally require fewer treatments. While people with darker skin aren’t considered as the perfect candidates for the procedure, they will nevertheless benefit from laser hair removal under certain conditions.
It is more difficult to treat blonde, grey and red hair with laser.
It is important to avoid unneeded exposure to sunlight for 2 weeks prior to the treatment, as the laser light targets the high pigmented colors of the hair. Prior to procedure, patients with tanned skin will have to wait for their tan to fade.
Patients who suffer from skin disorders, such as psoriasis, cystic acne, and dermatitis are not suitable for this procedure.
Patients administering certain medication are refused for this treatment,
Patients who are pregnant, have pacemakers or have metal screws in the regions in which the procedure is required, as not suitable for laser hair removal.
Several sessions may be required for 100% reduction of unwanted hairs.
Treatment time can range from one hour to several hours.
