Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)
What are the advantages of Laser Lipolysis (Laser Lipo) over other procedures?
- Quicker recovery time
- Minimal scarring, bleeding or bruising
- Smaller incisions
- Fewer side effects
- Minimal discomfort
- Local anesthesia
- Often provides skin tissue tightening
- Laser selectively dissolves fat unlike conventional liposuction which can destroy other tissue
The best candidates for Laser Lipolysis (Laser Lipo):
- Have tried to eliminate bulges through diet, exercise and weight loss
- Have distinct areas of localized fat that are disproportionate to the rest of their bodies
- Have realistic expectations and are only slightly overweight BMI <30
- Understand that Laser Lipolysis is not a substitute for weight loss
- Be in good health
How are the benefits of Laser Lipolysis (Laser Lipo) measured?
Cosmetically speaking, successful treatment is measured in inches rather than pounds. The weight removed is not as important as the improvement in your body's contour. Most important is your improved self-image and self acceptance.
Is the fat removal permanent?
The fat removal is permanent. Should you gain weight, the fat will return to the areas not treated with the laser. For best results, maintain a healthy diet and exercise program.
What you need to avoid before surgery?
Preoperative precautions:
- Discontinue the following:
- Smoking
- Aspirin, aspirin-containing medications
- Ibuprofen
- Vitamin E
- Garlic preparations and other herbal remedies
- Diet medications for 2 weeks before surgery
- Alcohol for 2 weeks before surgery
- Medications in appendix I for 2 weeks before surgery
- Wash areas to be liposuctioned with antibacterial soap or cleanser beginning 2 days prior to surgery.
- Make transportation and aftercare arrangements.
How many treatments are required?
Laser Lipolysis can take 30 minutes on the neck and several hours on larger areas. Most patients have only one treatment. However, a touch up treatment may be required in some patients after 6 months
How will my figure look after surgery?
Shortly after the procedure, the treated area will appear tighter, compact and smaller. The skin tightening is a gradual process and with continual improvement best results are seen after several months. You may also note areas that are firm and irregular which is normal and usually subsides in in 6-8 weeks. You will be instructed in the use of your compression garment and to begin massage to the area treated in 10-12 days after your procedure. Following your doctors orders will help eliminate post laser lipo complications.
What will my recovery be like?
After performing Laser Lipolysis, patients are back to work in only a few days. You will go home after the procedure and rest for a few hours, after which you may gradually increase your activity as tolerated and is encouraged. A pressure garment will be placed over the procedure area for several weeks depending on the body area treated. Refrain from strenuous exercise for several weeks.
How SlimLipo Body Contouring Works:
Laser liposuction with SlimLipo effectively treats areas of the body where there is unwanted fat, such as the abdomen, arms, flanks, thighs, neck, bra fat and chest.
The SlimLipo laser uses dual wavelengths of 924 nm and 975 nm to selectively target fat and gently "melt" it with less side effects and enhanced results.
Selective photothermolysis frees the lipids contained in the adipose tissue for easy aspiration. The result is less tissue trauma, significant fat removal and controlled tissue heating resulting in skin tightening through laser-assisted lipolysis.
